Thanks for your reply! As a matter of fact, that shouldn't be too much of a chore to learn about - since watching the devil-may-care adventures of Stewart Granger, Eleanor Parker and Janet Leigh (I think) in lush costumes can't be too bad!
Or Errol Flynn in Captain Blood (with the dastardly Basil Rathbone and ever-charming Olivia de Havilland) and The Sea Hawk (in colour!)...for my money, Captain Blood was the ultimate gentleman-pirate until Johnny Depp's subversively quirky Jack Sparrow gave the genre a whole new twist.
Hi, that brings back some delightful memories! I read the book Scaramouche back in the days when I was hooked on Sabatini, and of course saw the movie. Great stuff, full of derring-do and swordplay, dashing heroes and dazzling heroines. Good to have a Sabatini fan here!
