what is your Favorite Quotation and why?
"You are what you pretend to be, so, it might as well be something good." ~ Kurt Vonnegut, Jr.

Why? Because Vonnegut saw through the shams and smokescreens of the human ego. He knew, in that slaughterhouse in Dresden, that death could come at any moment. Pretense IS reality, he posited, for it's the face that we show to others, and then see reflected back to us, that matters.

In this quote, I find a much needed up-date to the Golden Rule. When artifice has replaced art- as we find it so, today-
the artisan had better produce something wondrous and sublime or else give up his god-given creativity to the devilish vacuum of consumption.

I am pretending to be me. That's who I have always wanted to be. Not so bad.
