I am a member of D.E.S. Action when I can afford it at http://www.desaction.org. I am a D.E.S. daughter with breast cancer and recently had surgery. I will be going through radiation treatment and drugs for 5 years. I am also planning on seeing an art therapist. I have been very positive and recovering.

Hi George
An interesting personal health story George - and I like the last comment ".. apart from that .... I am fine"

I can see a possible link to some of your previous symptoms ... Here are some books that may assist you to look at these connections ...
1. "You can heal your life" by Louise Hay
2. "The body is the barometer of the Soul" by Annette Noontil

They are both an illuminating read.
Best wishes Michael ... happy New Year

Tara, I am so sorry for your loss. I can only imagine how devastating that must have been for you.
I was interested to read about the types of therapy you practice. Although I have never tried any "alternative" therapies, I do recall an aquaintant of mine who had hypopituitarism due to a pituitary tumour. He felt he wasn't doing as well on his meds as he might have done and eventually sought the help of a Reiki practitioner. The last I heard he had given up his meds and believed himself to be, if not cured, then at least no longer dependent on medication. Admittedly, that was a couple of years ago and I haven't heard from him since so I do not know if his improvement was permanent or not.

It will be interesting to read and see what people bring to the table. I perform therapeutic massage therapy, Reflexology, acupressure, somato respiratory Integration, Doula Services, Aromatherapy, Bach flower essences, and energy healing and will begin training in cranio-sacral therapy next month. I have also have interest in food, nutrition, and psychology. Some of my philosophies take a look from the other side why do we get sick? looking at wellness from a body mind and spirit philosophy. Two or 3 books to look at "feelings buried alive never die", and louise hay" how to heal your life" and "how to heal your body". show the body mind connection. Awareness, connection and feeling what we feel.

I began my training in this work 5 years ago, though a receiver of this work as long as i can remember. The greatest part was 2 years ago after my son died I went to practitioners to give myself a break from my grief but using massage during the grief process kept me very aware of my body and my mind. I realized what a great gift that was and wanted to assist others in connection, to live their life more alive and well. I also believe some focus on the inside will help the outside.

Lili's comments (November 8, 2008 at 2:10pm ) struck a chord with me. I had surgery for colorectal cancer almost 6 years ago. I had the right half of my bowel removed but fortunately did not need any further treatment. Prior to that, around 8 years ago I was diagnosed with Panhypopituitarism. I have no pituitary gland which was severed due to a fall as a baby but was not previously diagnosed. Before that I had surgery for carpal tunnel syndrome and a Hallux Valgus (bunion) and before that I was diagnosed with Obstructive Sleep Apnoea
Apart from all that I'm fine :)
