The nicest thing about retirement is that I can now sleep til it is light out. I also love to snuggle under the covers to become fully awake and then I can stand the cooler air in the house. I have found that it really helps me to have a humidifier in the bedroom. The higher humidity is better for warming my body at a given temperature without evaporating the moisture from my skin to make the air feel cooler.

I'm like Richard, I don't get out of bed until it's light. Seven years ago I lived in a cottage with no central heating, double glazing or insulation. Getting out of bed there in the winter was hard. The windows would be covered in ice on the inside and there would be ice in the shower cabinet, brrrrrr! Fortunately we moved to an apartment which had central heating and this was set to come on about an hour before I awoke which made getting out of bed, if not easier, at least more pleasant.
i tell the wife the night before to get me up even if she has to poke me, pour water on me or take all the covers away. She enjoys it immensley, and i guarantee i get up with a smile. because she doesnt deserve a grumpy husband. shes is too great a person for that.
